Non-Comedogenic Makeup: My Secret To Clear Skin

June 1, 2015

Happy Monday friends! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are starting your week on a healthy note. I'm super excited to be sharing with you one of my favorite skincare secrets! This transition in my makeup regimen has dramatically transformed my complexion. I'm talking about non-comedogenic makeup!

You're probably asking, "what the heck does non-comedogenic mean?" Non-comedogenic means that the products do not contain ingredients that have been proven to block pores and generate acne. I first heard about this type of makeup from my dermatologist.

I'm not saying that non-comedogenic makeup is a "cure-all," but I personally saw a noticeable difference in my skin when I started using it. Blocking your pores with heavy makeup on a regular basis won't do any good, and caking on makeup over pimples is sure to cause more irritation; it's worth giving non-comedogenic makeup a try (after consulting your dermatologist, of course).

Next time you need to restock on foundation, look for non-comedogenic on the label. I use Bare Minerals BARESKIN Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Bare Linen 03; this foundation also has broad spectrum SPF 20 in it, which helps protect my skin from the sun. Laura Mercier, NARS, Neutrogena, Lorac, Revlon, Make Up For Ever and several other cosmetic brands feature non-comedogenic makeup as well.

Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think! Tweet me @stefhealthtips with a pic of your new makeup!

Xoxo,

Stefani
